Work outfits: best work boots

Boots for work

The new season means one thing in our book: new boots! From leopard print boots to buckle boots, white ankle boots to western boots, these are the six pairs to put on your shopping list.

We’re leaving the sky-scraper high heels alone! Instead, we’ve tracked down mid heels, low heels and flat ankle boots to take your work wardrobe to the next level.

So, make sure you keep an eye out when you’re shopping for your back-to-work wardrobe at Dundrum Town Centre (don’t forget a new work bag!), because these new-in styles will be hitting the shop floor any day now.

Leopard print has become a staple in many women’s wardrobes thanks to many brands heroing leopard print coats and blouses, mid dresses and bags, in their collections.

Want to embrace your inner animal this autumn? Start with a pair of leopard print shoes. Choose ankle boots with an elegant pointed toe, if you can.

An office outfit with extra rock ‘n’ roll! Keep the rest of your workwear black (black trouser suit and a black polo-neck) and let your leopard print heels do the talking.

Not many offices are ready for cowboy boots, but western style boots are a different story. Subtly tap into the Wild West trend by choosing chic suede ankle boots with a sturdy low heel. Look for an almond toe and decorative stitching.

Wear it with: Team with slim black trousers – ankle-skimming are best – and a statement blouse in a bold print. Or, if the weather’s kind, your work shirt dress and bare legs.

Our pick: Cowboy suede leather ankle boots, €155, Massimo Dutti

Instead of a one-season wonder, white ankle boots are still ticking all our footwear boxes! Ditch your trusty black leather boots and choose white ones instead. A pointy toe and walkable leather kitten heels add an elegant touch – perfect for nine ‘til five style.

Wear it with: Make it monochrome. For an effortlessly chic look, pair your white ankle boots with white wool trousers in a slouchy, relaxed cut.

Our pick: Leather mid heel ankle boots, €100, Zara

Flat black boots: sound boring? No way, not with some embellishment detailing. We’re loving flat ankle boots, toughened up with buckles or studs. Keep the sole slim, rather than chunky, and they’re still appropriate for stomping round the office.

Wear it with: Add a feminine touch. Opt for a maxi skirt in a bold print, tamed down with a slim-fit white shirt or slim grey sweatshirt (depending on your style).

Red is everywhere this season, but do you think red boots are too bold for the office? Think again. From pillar box red to burgundy, this could be your best work boot of the season. Steer clear of all stilettos – you want a nice, chunky low heel and a square toe.

Wear it with: We love red with grey – such an elegant combination. Try it with a grey checked suit. Or choose your favourite office outfit, throw on a grey wool coat and walk tall!

Classic tan Chelsea boots are androgynous, making them a go-to boot for men and women. Think of these as the ankle boots that’ll never date: investment footwear to pull on season after season. And they’re great for puddle jumping on your commute, too.

Wear it with: Chelsea ankle boots demand preppy styling. Denim allowed in your office? Pair these with dark indigo jeans, not forgetting a small turn-up. It’s all in the details, after all!
