Dundrum Town Centre is awarded Shopping Centre of the Year at FBD Retail Excellence Awards
-THREE IN A ROW WIN FOR DUNDRUM-
Dundrum Town Centre has been awarded Shopping Centre of the Year for the third year running at the FBD Retail Excellence Awards. The award is voted by shopping centre retailers throughout Ireland and was presented to Don Nugent, Dundrum Town Centre Director by An Tánaiste Mary Coughlan T.D. at a gala award ceremony held at Lyrath Hotel, Kilkenny, on 7th November 2009.
Findings concluded that Dundrum Town Centre topped the annual productivity table as the best shopping centre in Ireland, as voted by 500 retailers and members of Retail Excellence Ireland.
Commenting on the award, Dundrum Town Centre Director Don Nugent said: “We are thrilled to receive this award for the third year in a row. It is truly a great honour for Dundrum Town Centre to win, particularly as it is voted by retailers It is a true testament to the team work amongst retailers and management, who are managing its ongoing progress and consistently growing the centre to ensure the best possible customer and tenant experience.”
David Fitzsimmons CEO, Retail Excellence Ireland agreed “This is the third consecutive year that Dundrum Town Centre has scooped the Shopping Centre of the Year award. While the market is challenging, Dundrum is still maintaining footfall levels and thus giving retailers an opportunity to trade. It proves that a well managed and operated centre with a good retail mix will keep customers coming back.”Exclusive store openings include the opening of Ireland’s first stand alone world famous toy store Hamleys, Gap and Lipsy fashion stores. Most recent arrivals include fashion brand Fat Face, Hairspray, Ireland’s favourite hair and beauty store and salon as well as Optical Express and Douglas & Kaldi Terrace Café and Restaurant. A further fashionable offering has also arrived at House of Fraser at Dundrum Town Centre, with the addition of Swarovski jewellery to its impressive portfolio of concessions.
This recent win at the FBD Retail Excellence Awards, alongside the new openings, reaffirms Dundrum Town Centre’s position as Ireland’s premier retail and shopping destination, as highlighted by winning over 30 other international and national awards since opening.
Don Nugent added: “We continue to introduce points of difference at Dundrum Town Centre to make sure we continue to deliver for our customers in terms of retail mix, entertainment and the creation of a social environment at the Centre. We are very conscious and aware that we continue to promote the best customer experience at the Centre and never fail to deliver on customer expectations.”
Since opening its doors in March 2005, over 70 million customers have visited Dundrum Town Centre and the centre now offers over 100 stores and 34 restaurants, a 12 screen cinema, a theatre, 3,400 car spaces and historic features like Town Square, which boasts a dramatic water fountain.
