Local Community
For information about the Dundrum Community please visit www.dundrum.com
Dundrum South FM 93.9,Your Local community based radio station.
A local radio station in Dundrum Town Centre! Dublin South 93.9 FM is the BCI-licensed local community radio for South Dublin. Over ten years on air (starting in the old PYE centre, and more recently in Rathfarnham), we have now moved into brand new studios, generously provided by the new Dundrum Town Centre as a contribution to local community activities.
BUT WHAT EXACTLY DO WE DO?
About 60 volunteers produce and broadcast 35 hours of quality programmes each week. Local access radio is there to help the community and does things differently…
Transition-year students join in programmes and get invaluable work experience. Media students get their class projects broadcast. Retired people discuss their problems & play their music. Young journalists cover local news stories and then read them on air. Songwriters and emerging bands get their first break – our ’On The Verge’ programme is a famous mecca for new Dublin talent. Two well-presented music programmes by teenagers give’em access & great radio experience
Magazine programmes highlight local history, local drama & musicals, local artistes etc. A Polish langage and an Indian language programme target our non-nationals. Local writers and poets demonstrate their wares; ‘Community Voice’ keeps you in touch! Real personal development in action. …..The community listens to it’s life being lived…
Lots are listening to local radio, as our formula of local presenters, and local interest programmes, is seen as an ideal complement to national radio. Our broadcast area covers approx 90,000 people and our service is not replicated by either RTE or the Dublin music stations.
The huge new influx of residents into Dundrum and surrounding areas will be introduced to the station, and local programming will give them a flavour of what’s going on the area, and even a spot of local history! They can come on air and get to become part of the community.
Advertisers can join in too! Enhance your print advertising with radio spots or sponsor a programme.
People tune in to hear what’s going on : your message can be in there.

Remember – you can’t have community without communication
